Flower Faux Pas

Here's a list of flower dos and don'ts from our friends at FTD

In Mexico - Do not give red flowers. Red is asociated with spells and witchcraft while white lists spells.

In Japan - Red stands for health and healing. Red flowers are appreciated in hospitals.

In France - do not send yellow flowers. Yellow stands for infidelity.

In Latine AMerica - yellow flowers are associated with deat. Send only to funerals.

In France - avoid even numbered bouquets of flowers, reasons unknown.

In Italy and Switerland - please send odd numbered bouquets of flowers, reasons unknown.

In France and Latin America - avoid the number 13.

Send plants not flowers to men in Italy.

But do not send plants to the elderly in Japan since plants can make their sickeness "take root."

Sending a cactus to a Swede indicates the romance is over.

Do not send strongly scented flowers to anyone in Switzerland.

Be especially careful of Chrysanthemums. In France and Italy, white chrysanthemums are only for funerals, while in China these colors extend to yellow and white.
